Since my last post…
I had the fortune of spending the summer as the Coordinator of The Young Shakespeareans down at Bard on the Beach in Vancouver, organizing 16 different workshops for over 250 participants aged 8-18. Participants of the workshops spend two weeks rehearsing one of Shakespeare’s plays and then presenting their work on the Bard Studio Stage and the Mainstage. This summer, The Young Shakespeareans were also asked to perform as part of Celebrate! Stanley Park-a weekend celebration marking Stanley Park’s 125th birthday. About 20 Young Shakespeareans got together to perform scenes and monologues in the Shakespeare Garden in Stanley Park on August 25th and 26th. I was blown away by the passion, creativity and dedication of these young artists, and honoured to have been a part of that weekend.
Please go to Bard’s website http://www.bardonthebeach.org/ for more info on the Young Shakespeareans program!
This summer also found me shooting a commercial for Shaw Cable that will be airing soon-never had so much fun getting coffee thrown all over a white sweater:) Keep your eyes open for that one..
Since then, I have landed at The Chemainus Theatre Festival and have been busy in rehearsals for the upcoming show, A Pretty Girl (A Shayna Maidel).
This story of a family torn apart by the World War II is beautiful, heart breaking and inspiring. We open on Friday, September 14th and run only until the 28th. Please go to http://www.chemainustheatrefestival.ca/ for more info and to purchase tickets.
Next Up: a touring remount of the Arts Club show, Boeing Boeing, and then Uncle Vanya with Blackbird Theatre at The Cultch. More details to come…
