As a settler and an artist on the traditional and unceded territories of  the Coast Salish Peoples, including the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, Luisa has deep gratitude for being able to work, live and play here.

Jessie nominated performer, coach, and teaching artist, Luisa Jojic has worked professionally in film, television and theatre since 2001 with such companies as The Vancouver Opera, The Arts Club, Bard on the Beach Theatre, The Richmond Gateway Theatre, Mitch and Murray Productions, Pi Theatre, Blackbird Theatre, Theatre Northwest, The Only Animal, The Playwright’s Theatre Centre, Fox Network, Ghostwood Films, and Clarity Pictures, among numerous others.

Luisa has twice toured the Canadian national Fringe circuit with original work. Her collaborative installation performance work has been seen at the BC Bud’s  Festival for Emerging Artists, The Signal and Noise Festival, Ladyfest, Sistahood, the Vancouver Out on Screen Festival, AC (Institute Direct) in  New York City, and The  Soapbox Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. Screen credits include Supernatural, The Client List, Reaper, Ace of Hearts and local features The Familiar, Love and Other Dilemmas, Mud Pies, and The Portside.

As a coach, Luisa believes in the power of presence and the beauty of each individual’s unique voice. She facilitate safe spaces for people to explore, connect with and express their voice. Luisa works with combine mindful practice, sensory connection and exploration, creative play, storytelling, and vocal techniques to expand self understanding, connection, confidence, and expression. Through exploring the interconnection of our voice, body, mind, spirit, and environment, we can open up parts of ourselves that have been dormant, hidden away, or undiscovered, and in doing so, contribute to our over-all health and well being. Through over twenty years of performance and teaching work, she has collaborated with all ages and diverse groups of individuals supporting them in the exploration and expression of their voices and themselves. She has worked as an instructor (Arts Umbrella, Bard on the Beach, Young Actor’s Project), Coordinator (Young Shakespeareans, Bard on the Beach) and Adjudicator (CDMF Performing Arts Festival, Magnum Opus International Speech and Drama Competition). She is a founding Teaching Artist of both the Riotous Youth Program and Bard In Your Neighbourhood at the Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival..

Luisa is the founder and facilitator of arts education programs that engage at-risk youth, and individuals who have experienced homelessness or are currently vulnerably housed. Working at the intersection between the arts, community activism, and social work, Luisa has developed an innovative and participant-centered approach that explores the perspectives and life experiences of collaborative participants, builds understanding and a sense of community among participants and audiences, and promotes dialogue and awareness about the issue of homelessness in Vancouver. For her work with youth, she has been awarded the PCRS Recognition Award, and was a nominee for Metro Vancouver’s 2016 Women of Distinction Awards in Arts, Culture and Design.
