For the fall semester of 2016, 7 participants from the True Voice Theatre Project who were community members that had performed in For a Muse of Fire, came together with seven third year SFU Acting students to create an original piece of theatre called Living on Shared Territory.  Led by myself and Ker Wells, the idea of the project was to bring together these two different groups and through the act of creating begin to bridge the gaps that divide these different communities within the DTES.

The collaboration was a success, culminating in a final performance and much dialogue around diversity, acceptance, and inclusion. The desire to continue this kind of collaboration between students and community members of the DTES was strongly communicated, as the groups found increasing levels of communication and understanding throughout the process, and the audience was moved by the result.

True Voice Theatre Project continues to seek out and create new opportunities for inter-community connection and collaboration, working towards greater inclusion and exchange of knowledge, experience and creativity.
